Imitation Writing

Original Passage:

"A parent who really desires to understand his child does not look at him through the screen of an ideal. If he loves the child, he observes him, he studies his tendencies, his moods and peculiarities. It is only when one feels no love for the child that one imposes upon him and ideal, for then one's ambitions are trying to fulfil themselves in him, wanting him to become this or that. If one loves, not the ideal, but the child, then there is a possibility of helping him to understand himself as he is."

Notable Stylistic Elements:
-Takes a common found relationship in society, between parent and child, and analyzes how to act when the relationship takes a certain turn.
-Establishes a third person point of view to emphasize understanding and knowledge on the subject
-Concise, using simple diction

Context:
All knowing explaining the reasons and options in a relationship.

Imitation Passage:
A person who truly believes in establishing true friendship with another will not see the other through the screen of judgment and ignorance. If one believes the friendship is true, one listens , accepts the quirks and peculiarities, and keep the mind opened to that which they do not know. It is only when one doesn't receive this treatment in return that one may begin to title the friendship as false, and that the motive of the other is full of ill intentions. If one truly loves a friend, both parties must be willing to sacrifice for that of the other, and sacrifice of the valued leads to a truly unbreakable bond of friendship. With an acquired friendship comes an acquired understanding of oneself."

  1. Wow, I love both versions, for the style and for the truth in them.
